HCT Teaching competence: 1. Professionalism 

 

Professionalism: The competence of showing that I am professional in my teaching practice. Showing professionalism in the school requires being organized, punctual, planning extra activities, meeting with the MST continually, respecting all of the schools rules and decisions.

 

Justification:

it is important to show professionalism in the teaching field because you gain respect from all of the school members by showing that you are professional at all time.

 

Implemented strategies:

  • Being punctual in attending the school on time and all schools duties.

  • Planning school extra activities with the school members

  • Sending all lesson plans on time

  • Taking permission from the principle before applying any activity in the school.

     

Reflection:

During my teaching practice I have presented the Higher Colleges of Technology and myself professionally, by that I have showed up to school everyday with a clear plan of what I was going to do each day.Throughout the teaching practice attended all of my duties, the duty that was given to me is to take the students to the canteen everyday, sit with them for 30 minutes and make sure that they have eaten something and then take them back to class again.

 

I have planned a global day with some of the school members and showed professionalism by attending all of the meetings on time. Planning the global day required me to stay in school for an extra hour and help organize the booth with the other members.

I Showed that I am professional by sending all of the lesson plans on time and handing in the weekly lesson plan at the end of each week so my mentor school teacher would know what I am planning to do for the following week. I also discussed and planned with her my weekly lesson plans by meeting with her every week to discuss both planning and my progress in teaching.

 

One of the main areas that show that I have followed the HCT teaching competence is by working with a colleague in another school to create a web page for grade three students.

 

Evidence:

This is the Indian book that I have created with the other school members in the global day; my job was to organize the booth.

 

This is an example of one of the emails that I sent to my colleague explaining the material and the concept of it before adding it to the website.
